friend (noun) ~ one attached to another by affection or esteem, a defender or supporter of a cause, group, or principle.

The Gaylord Friends of the Library is an association of community members that values our library and demonstrates support through membership and volunteer participation. It was established in 2001.

The purpose of the Friends is to:

  • Focus public attention on the library
  • Stimulate the use of the library’s resources and services
  • Assist the library in developing programs to meet current community needs
  • Assist the librarians in daily library operations
  • Aid in providing funds to meet special library needs

The group meets once per quarter to discuss library issues and plan special events. Some of the projects the Friends are involved in include:

  • Author night
  • Special Auctions
  • Read Across Gaylord
  • Eggstravaganza Booth
  • Used Book Sale
  • Grant Writing
  • Reading Programs
  • Dust Books/Bookshelves

Membership is open to individuals, families, businesses and organizations that want involvement in promoting the materials, services and programs of the Gaylord Library.

Any level of participating is appreciated. You can come to meetings and share your ideas, help out with events that interest you or just make a monetary contribution to support the Friends.
